Strong Thunderstorm Warning: Sheridan, Western Cherry Counties

Residents in Sheridan and Western Cherry counties should be aware of a Special Weather Statement issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in North Platte, Nebraska, effective until 8:30 PM MDT tonight, September 27, 2026. This alert, issued at 7:49 PM MDT, indicates a strong thunderstorm is tracking 15 miles northeast of Ellsworth, approximately 37 miles southeast of Rushville, and moving north at 10 mph.
The primary hazards associated with this storm include wind gusts up to 40 mph and nickel-sized hail. These conditions could lead to knocked-down tree limbs and displaced unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is also possible.
Locations potentially impacted include Watson Lake, Big Hill, Wolf Hill, and Argo Hill.
