Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Cherry, Sheridan Counties Urged to Seek Shelter
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for parts of Cherry and Sheridan Counties until 7:45 PM MDT tonight, bringing threats of 60 mph winds and quarter-sized hail.
Residents in parts of Cherry and Sheridan Counties are advised to immediately seek shelter due to a Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in North Platte, NE. This warning is in effect until 7:45 PM MDT on September 27th.
At 7:27 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 13 miles northeast of Ellsworth, or 40 miles east of Alliance, moving east at 10 mph. The primary hazards associated with this storm are 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail. Radar indicated these conditions.
Impacts are expected to include hail damage to vehicles and wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations specifically impacted include Watson Lake.
For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement agency, who will relay your report to the NWS office in North Platte.
