Residents in Sheridan and Western Cherry counties are advised to seek shelter indoors as a strong thunderstorm approaches. The National Weather Service in North Platte has issued a Special Weather Statement effective until 8:45 PM UTC on September 27, 2026.
As of 7:56 PM MDT, Doppler radar detected a strong thunderstorm 19 miles south of Gordon, moving northeast at 15 mph. This storm is expected to bring wind gusts up to 40 mph and nickel-sized hail.
Impacted locations include Rock Hill and Bayonne, as well as Highway 20 between mile markers 118 and 119. Gusty winds could dislodge tree limbs and unsecured outdoor items. Minor hail damage to plants is also possible.
If you are outdoors, immediately move inside a sturdy building. To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service office in North Platte.
