Residents in Inland, Metro, and Coastal Palm Beach County, including Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens, and Tequesta, are advised to seek immediate shelter due to a strong thunderstorm. The National Weather Service in Miami issued a Special Weather Statement today, October 11, at 4:49 PM EDT, effective until 5:30 PM EDT.

Meteorologists are tracking a strong thunderstorm near North County Airport, moving northeast at 10 mph. This storm carries hazards of wind gusts between 45 to 50 mph and pea-sized hail. Radar indicates these conditions.

Impacts could include downed tree limbs and unsecured objects being blown around, with minor damage to outdoor items possible. Frequent cloud-to-ground lightning is also occurring, and lightning can strike up to 10 miles from the storm. Seek safety inside a sturdy building or vehicle.

Torrential rainfall is expected, which may lead to localized flooding. Do not attempt to drive through flooded roadways. The affected areas include Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens, Tequesta, Juno Beach, Caloosa, Philo Farms, Fau North Campus, Jupiter Farms, and Limestone Creek.
