Rip Current Statement Issued for Coastal Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade
A Rip Current Statement has been issued for coastal Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade Counties, effective immediately until Sunday evening, warning of dangerous rip currents and providing critical safety instructions.
Coastal residents and visitors in Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade Counties are advised that a Rip Current Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Miami FL, effective immediately.
This Moderate Severity Rip Current Statement is in effect from 4:02 PM EDT today, October 3rd, through Sunday evening, October 4th, at 8:00 PM EDT. The NWS warns of dangerous rip currents along the beaches of Coastal Palm Beach County, Coastal Broward County, and Coastal Miami-Dade County.
Rip currents pose a significant risk, capable of sweeping even experienced swimmers away from shore into deeper waters. To ensure safety, the NWS advises swimming only near a lifeguard.
If caught in a rip current, individuals should relax and float, avoiding the urge to swim against the current. If possible, swim in a direction parallel to the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help. These instructions are critical for anyone in the affected coastal areas during this period.
