City of Milton and Milton Garden Club Host Free Community Plant Workshop
MILTON, FL — The City of Milton, in partnership with the Milton Garden Club, will host a free community plant workshop on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Milton Community Center, inside the Clyde L. Gracey Room. This one-hour workshop is designed for residents of all experience levels—from beginners to seasoned gardeners—who are interested in learning practical, low-cost ways to grow and maintain their own plants while connecting with others in the community. Master Gardener and guest speaker Jennifer Weber will lead the session, sharing her expertise on soil health, pest management, proper watering techniques, plant propagation, and caring for both indoor and outdoor plants. The workshop will emphasize how residents can successfully grow and maintain plants using what they already have, reinforcing that gardening should be accessible to anyone with an interest in plants. Attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with members of the Milton Garden Club, participate in plant swaps, and meet other local plant enthusiasts. Light refreshments will be available, and attendees are welcome to bring their own lunch. The event supports the City's Yard of the Season program, which recognizes residents who contribute to the beauty and character of Milton's neighborhoods through thoughtful landscaping and seasonal décor. City of Milton Announces Holiday Closure, Sanitation Schedule Changes for Independence Day
MILTON, FL (June 23, 2026) — The City of Milton will observe Independence Day on Friday, July 3, 2026, as the nation celebrates America's 250th anniversary. All City of Milton offices will be closed in observance of the holiday. Residents are advised of the following sanitation schedule changes: • Thursday, July 2 sanitation collection will be picked up on Wednesday, July 1. • Friday, July 3 sanitation collection will be picked up on Thursday, July 2. All other sanitation routes will remain on their regular schedule. Residents are encouraged to place carts curbside by 6 a.m. on their adjusted collection day to ensure service. Residents and visitors are also invited to celebrate Independence Day at Riverfest 2026 on Saturday, July 4, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Jernigan's Landing and Historic Downtown Milton. The free, family-friendly event will feature live entertainment, children's activities, food vendors, and a fireworks display as the community joins the nation in celebrating America's 250th anniversary. As residents celebrate the holiday, the City encourages everyone to use fireworks responsibly and in accordance with Florida law. Sparklers are legal for use year-round. Certain fireworks that explode or launch into the air are only permitted on July 4 (Independence Day) and from December 31 through January 1 (New Year's Eve and New Year's Day). Residents should follow all manufacturer instructions, maintain a safe distance from structures and spectators, and closely supervise children around fireworks. City of Milton Offices to Close in Observance of Juneteenth
MILTON, FL — City of Milton offices will be closed on Friday, June 19, 2026, in observance of Juneteenth, the federal holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. Residents are encouraged to note the following sanitation schedule adjustments for the holiday: Thursday, June 18 collection routes will be serviced on Wednesday, June 17. Friday, June 19 collection routes will be serviced on Thursday, June 18. Residents should place carts curbside by 6:00 a.m. on their adjusted collection day. City of Milton Announces 2026 Summer Youth Internship Program
Milton, Fla. (April 30, 2026) — The City of Milton is now accepting applications for its 2026 Summer Youth Internship Program, offering local high school students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in municipal government while earning a competitive hourly wage. The four-week paid internship will run from June 1 through June 26, 2026, and is open to high school students, with participation recommended for those in grades 10 through 12. Interns will earn $15 per hour while working approximately 20 hours per week, gaining real-world experience alongside City staff. Participants will gain exposure to a range of City departments, including Finance and Purchasing, Communications and Media Relations, Economic Development, Public Events, Information Technology, and Planning and Development. Interns will also engage with departments such as Fire, Police, and Public Works, providing a broader understanding of the services that support the community each day. Interns will primarily work weekday morning hours, with select evening and weekend events included as part of the program experience. Applications must be submitted by May 18, 2026. The program is open to students throughout Santa Rosa County, with priority given to City of Milton residents. City of Milton Natural Gas Line Replacement Project Advances into Park Avenue, Byrom Street and Cedar Street
MILTON, FL. (June 3, 2026) – The City of Milton's Natural Gas Line Replacement Project continues to make progress as crews near completion of work on Alabama Street and adjacent roadways. As construction advances, the next areas scheduled for work include Park Avenue, Byrom Street, and Cedar Street. Construction in these areas is expected to begin soon and is anticipated to be completed within approximately 90 days, weather permitting. Work schedules may shift due to weather conditions or field requirements encountered during construction. Residents in affected areas will continue to receive door hanger notifications in advance of work beginning on their street. If natural gas service must be temporarily interrupted during construction, certified technicians will return to relight appliances at no cost. If residents are not home at the time service is restored, instructions will be left regarding follow-up service. Streets and sidewalks impacted by construction will be restored once utility work is complete. The City appreciates residents' patience and cooperation as this important infrastructure project continues to modernize Milton's natural gas system and improve long-term reliability for customers.
