City of Milton Announces Holiday Closure, Sanitation Schedule Changes for Independence Day
MILTON, FL (June 23, 2026) — The City of Milton will observe Independence Day on Friday, July 3, 2026, as the nation celebrates America's 250th anniversary. All City of Milton offices will be closed in observance of the holiday.
MILTON, FL (June 23, 2026) — The City of Milton will observe Independence Day on Friday, July 3, 2026, as the nation celebrates America's 250th anniversary. All City of Milton offices will be closed in observance of the holiday. Residents are advised of the following sanitation schedule changes: • Thursday, July 2 sanitation collection will be picked up on Wednesday, July 1. • Friday, July 3 sanitation collection will be picked up on Thursday, July 2. All other sanitation routes will remain on their regular schedule. Residents are encouraged to place carts curbside by 6 a.m. on their adjusted collection day to ensure service. Residents and visitors are also invited to celebrate Independence Day at Riverfest 2026 on Saturday, July 4, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Jernigan's Landing and Historic Downtown Milton. The free, family-friendly event will feature live entertainment, children's activities, food vendors, and a fireworks display as the community joins the nation in celebrating America's 250th anniversary. As residents celebrate the holiday, the City encourages everyone to use fireworks responsibly and in accordance with Florida law. Sparklers are legal for use year-round. Certain fireworks that explode or launch into the air are only permitted on July 4 (Independence Day) and from December 31 through January 1 (New Year's Eve and New Year's Day). Residents should follow all manufacturer instructions, maintain a safe distance from structures and spectators, and closely supervise children around fireworks.
