CRENSHAW COUNTY – A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Crenshaw County, including Brantley and Luverne, effective immediately until 12:15 PM UTC today, October 9, 2026. The National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL issued the warning at 4:07 AM CDT, urging residents to complete all preparations now and move to safe shelter.
Significant impacts are expected from severe winds, potential major flooding, and several possible tornadoes. Winds are forecasted to reach 20-30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph, but the potential exists for dangerous winds of 58 to 73 mph. Residents should expect damage to roofing, siding, and outbuildings, with numerous downed trees and scattered power outages possible. Heavy rainfall of 2-4 inches, with locally higher amounts, is expected, leading to a Flood Watch. Major rainfall flooding may prompt evacuations and rescues, with rivers potentially overflowing and roads becoming impassable. Several tornadoes are also possible, which could cause considerable damage.
