Hurricane Isaias: Evacuate if Ordered, Prepare for Landfall Tonight

Residents in Coffee, Geneva, Holmes, Inland Bay, Washington, Coastal Bay, and South Walton counties are now under a Hurricane Warning as Hurricane Isaias approaches. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tallahassee, FL, issued a Tropical Cyclone Local Statement today, October 9, 2026, at 11:28 AM EDT, upgrading multiple watches to warnings across southeastern Alabama, the eastern Florida Panhandle, Florida Big Bend, and southwestern Georgia.

Isaias, currently a major hurricane with 120 mph winds, is expected to make landfall along the central Gulf coast tonight. Life-threatening storm surge of 6 to 9 feet is forecast for the coastal Panhandle, with significant rainfall totaling 4 to 8 inches, and isolated amounts up to 15 inches, potentially causing flash flooding. A heightened tornado risk is also expected today into Saturday.

Actionable Information: Complete all preparations immediately. Heed evacuation orders from local officials. If relocating to a safe shelter, leave as early as possible. Keep cell phones charged.
