A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Southern Harrison, effective immediately. The National Weather Service (NWS) in New Orleans, LA, issued the warning today, October 8, at 4:03 AM CDT, impacting Gulfport, Biloxi, Pass Christian, and Long Beach. This warning remains in effect until 12:15 PM UTC today.
Residents in affected areas must complete preparations now. Life-threatening storm surge of 3-5 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. Evacuation efforts and flood preparations should be completed before conditions become unsafe. Leave immediately if evacuation orders are given to avoid being cut off from emergency services.
Dangerous winds are also expected, with peak forecasts of 20-30 mph and gusts up to 45 mph, with potential for winds up to 73 mph.
