A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Southern Harrison, effective immediately, by the National Weather Service (NWS) New Orleans, LA. This severe warning, issued at 10:01 AM CDT on October 8, affects Gulfport, Biloxi, Pass Christian, and Long Beach, and is set to expire at 6:15 PM CDT today.

Residents in these areas should act now to complete preparations for dangerous winds, potential life-threatening storm surge, and moderate flooding. Peak wind forecasts are 20-30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, but the potential exists for winds of 58 to 73 mph. Significant damage to roofing, siding, and outbuildings is possible, along with downed trees and power outages. Secure all loose outdoor items.

Life-threatening storm surge of 3-5 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. If evacuation orders are issued for your area, leave immediately to avoid being cut off. Moderate flooding from approximately 1 inch of rain is also expected, which may prompt evacuations and make roads hazardous. Heed all flood watches and warnings.
