A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Southern Harrison County, including Gulfport, Biloxi, Pass Christian, and Long Beach, effective immediately until October 8, 2026, at 6:15 PM UTC. The National Weather Service in New Orleans, LA, issued the alert at 10:01 AM CDT.
Residents in affected areas should prepare for life-threatening storm surge flooding of 3 to 5 feet above ground, with the window of concern from Friday morning until Saturday morning. Evacuation efforts and flood preparations should be completed now. If evacuation orders are given for your area, leave immediately to avoid being cut off from emergency services.
Strong tropical storm force winds are also anticipated, with peak gusts up to 40 mph, and potential for sustained winds of 58 to 73 mph. Efforts to protect life and property from significant wind damage should be underway. Complete preparations before winds become hazardous.
Moderate rainfall of approximately 1 inch is expected, potentially leading to moderate flooding. Heed any flood watches and warnings.
