A Rip Current Statement and Coastal Flood Advisory are in effect for Coastal Duval, with dangerous rip currents expected through tonight and minor coastal flooding until Sunday.

Coastal Duval residents are advised to take precautions as a Rip Current Statement and Coastal Flood Advisory have been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Jacksonville FL. The Rip Current Statement is effective immediately, October 10 at 9:44 AM EDT, and will remain in effect through late tonight, October 11 at 6:00 AM EDT. The Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect until 5 PM EDT Sunday.

Dangerous rip currents are expected along Coastal Duval County. Swimmers are urged to swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, remain calm and float. Do not attempt to swim against the current. If possible, swim parallel to the shoreline to escape the current. If unable to escape, face the shore and signal for help.

Minor coastal flooding is also anticipated, potentially affecting lots, parks, and roads. Isolated road closures are possible. If travel is necessary, allow extra time for your journey as some routes may be closed. Do not bypass barricades or drive through water of unknown depth. Property owners in flood-prone areas should take necessary actions to protect their property.
