A High Rip Current Risk and Coastal Flood Advisory are in effect for Coastal Duval County, issued by the NWS Jacksonville FL, advising of dangerous rip currents and minor coastal flooding until Sunday.
Residents and visitors in Coastal Duval County are advised of a high risk of dangerous rip currents and a Coastal Flood Advisory, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Jacksonville FL. This alert is effective immediately, October 10, at 2:59 AM EDT.
The Coastal Flood Advisory warns of minor coastal flooding until 4 PM EDT on Sunday, October 11. Flooding of lots, parks, and roads is expected, with isolated road closures possible. If travel is necessary, allow extra time and do not drive around barricades or through floodwaters of unknown depth. Property owners in flood-prone areas should take immediate action to protect their property.
A High Rip Current Risk is in effect through late tonight, October 10. Dangerous rip currents can sweep even strong swimmers away from shore into deeper water. The NWS advises swimming only near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, remain calm and float. Do not attempt to swim against the current. If possible, swim parallel to the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
