Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Brantley and Luverne, Crenshaw County

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Brantley and Luverne in Crenshaw County, issued by NWS Mobile AL, with immediate threats of high winds, flooding, and tornadoes.

Staff Writer
10/08/2026 · Crenshaw County edition

Crenshaw County residents in Brantley and Luverne are under a Tropical Storm Warning, effective immediately as of October 8 at 9:57 PM CDT. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Mobile, AL, issued the warning, which remains in effect until October 9 at 6:00 AM UTC.

Significant impacts are expected from high winds, flooding rain, and the potential for several tornadoes. Winds are forecast to reach 25-35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph, with a potential for 58 to 73 mph winds. This could cause damage to roofing, mobile homes, and trees, leading to impassable roads and scattered power outages. Remaining efforts to protect life and property should be completed as soon as possible. Move to safe shelter before hazardous winds begin.

A Flood Watch is in effect, with 1-3 inches of rain possible, and locally higher amounts. Moderate flooding could prompt evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act may result in serious injury or loss of life.

The situation is favorable for tornadoes, with the potential for several, some possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats are urged to relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be prepared to shelter quickly. For more information, contact Crenshaw County EMA at 334-335-4538 or visit www.weather.gov/mob.
