Residents in Inland Bay, Inland Gulf, Inland Franklin, Coastal Bay, Coastal Gulf, Coastal Franklin, and Southern Liberty counties are advised to seek shelter indoors immediately. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tallahassee has issued a Special Weather Statement at 12:57 PM EDT, effective until 1:30 PM EDT today, October 2nd, warning of a strong thunderstorm.

At 12:57 PM EDT (11:57 AM CDT), Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm near White City, approximately 11 miles northeast of Port St. Joe. This storm is moving north at 20 mph.

The primary hazard associated with this storm is wind gusts up to 40 mph. These gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations that may be impacted include Eastpoint, Apalachicola, Port St. Joe, Mexico Beach, White City, Wewahitchka, and surrounding communities.

If you are outdoors, you should consider seeking shelter inside a building until the threat has passed. The NWS advises this statement is based on radar indications.
