A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Inland Bay, including Youngstown and Fountain, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL. This watch, issued October 7 at 2:09 PM EDT, signifies that tropical storm-force winds are possible within the next 48 hours. The watch is effective until October 7, 2026, 10:15 PM UTC.
Residents in affected areas should immediately complete preparations for dangerous winds, with potential for gusts up to 35 mph, and a threat of significant wind damage. Plan for potential wind speeds of 58 to 73 mph, which could lead to damage to roofing, siding, and mobile homes, as well as downed trees and impassable roads due to debris. Power and communications outages are also possible.
Additionally, a threat of major flooding rain is anticipated, with 4-8 inches of rainfall expected, and locally higher amounts. Emergency plans should account for potential evacuations and rescues. Heed any flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers and small streams may overflow, and many structures could be impacted by floodwaters. Little to no storm surge or tornado threat is expected at this time. For more information, visit NWS Tallahassee, Florida Division of Emergency Management, and Bay County Emergency Management.
