Tropical Storm Watch Issued for Inland Bay: Prepare for Severe Weather
A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Inland Bay, including Youngstown and Fountain, starting Oct 7 at 11:00 PM EDT, warning of dangerous winds, major flooding rain, and potential tornadoes; residents must prepare immediately.
A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Inland Bay, including the communities of Youngstown and Fountain, effective October 7 at 11:00 PM EDT. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tallahassee, FL, warns residents to prepare for severe conditions, including dangerous winds, heavy rainfall, and potential tornadoes. This watch is in effect until October 8 at 7:00 AM UTC.
Residents in affected areas should act now to complete preparations. Winds are forecast to reach 15-25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph, with a potential for stronger winds of 58 to 73 mph. Significant damage to property is possible, including roofing, siding, and mobile homes. Secure all outdoor objects to prevent them from becoming dangerous projectiles.
Major flooding from heavy rain is likely, with additional rainfall amounts of 6-10 inches, and locally higher. Evacuations and rescues are anticipated. Heed any flood watches and warnings; failure to take action could result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers, streams, and ditches may rapidly overflow, leading to widespread road closures and impassable routes.
A few tornadoes are also possible. If your shelter is vulnerable, relocate to a safer area before hazardous weather begins. Be ready to shelter quickly if a tornado warning is issued. There is little to no threat of storm surge flooding, though rough surf and rip currents are possible.
