A Storm Surge Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee for Coastal Bay, effective October 7 at 2:09 PM EDT. Residents in Panama City, Panama City Beach, Mexico Beach, Lynn Haven, and Bayou George should prepare immediately for life-threatening storm surge flooding and dangerous winds.

The NWS forecasts a potential for 4-7 feet of storm surge above ground in surge-prone areas, with the window of concern from Friday morning until Saturday morning. Evacuation preparations should be underway for areas expecting greater than 6 feet of storm surge. If evacuation orders are given for your area, leave immediately.

Dangerous winds of equivalent strong tropical storm force are expected, with peak forecasts of 30-40 mph and gusts up to 55 mph. Efforts to protect life and property should be underway, with preparations for significant wind damage to be completed before winds become hazardous. Additional rainfall of 4-8 inches is expected, with potential for major flooding. Heed all flood watches and warnings.
