A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Zebulon in Pike County, effective immediately as of October 9 at 11:19 PM EDT, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Peachtree City GA. The warning remains in effect until October 10 at 7:30 AM UTC (3:30 AM EDT).
Residents are advised to complete all preparations now for hazardous wind conditions, potential moderate flooding, and the possibility of several tornadoes. Peak wind forecasts are 15-25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph, with a potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Limited damage to porches, awnings, unanchored mobile homes, and trees is possible, leading to scattered power outages and impassable roads due to debris.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with an additional 2-4 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts possible. Moderate rainfall flooding may prompt evacuations and rescues. Rivers, streams, and low-lying areas are at risk of overflowing. Heed any flood watches and warnings; failure to act may result in serious injury or loss of life.
The situation is favorable for tornadoes, with a potential for several, some possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings, and be ready to shelter quickly if a warning is issued. Significant impacts are possible, including considerable damage and power loss from tornadoes.
