Flash Flood, Tornado Risks Continue as Isaias Moves Through GA

North and Central Georgia face continued risks of flash flooding, tornadoes, and strong winds today and tonight as Post-Tropical Cyclone Isaias moves through, with a High Wind Warning and Flood Watch in effect.

Residents across North and Central Georgia must remain vigilant today and tonight as Post-Tropical Cyclone Isaias moves inland. The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a Tropical Cyclone Local Statement, indicating widespread impacts including flash flooding, potential tornadoes, and strong winds are expected.

As of 5 AM EDT, Isaias is moving north at 14 MPH. A High Wind Warning is in effect for North Georgia, with gusts up to 50 mph possible, leading to potential power outages. A Flood Watch remains for the entire area, with 2 to 4 inches of rain expected, and localized totals up to 8 inches, increasing the risk of flash flooding and landslides. A favorable environment for tornadoes is developing, with several possible, particularly in Central Georgia early this morning and advancing north through the afternoon and evening. Tornadoes could be strong (EF2 or EF3) and long-track.

Stay indoors and away from windows. Keep a battery-powered radio, charged cell phone, and flashlight ready. If a tornado warning is issued, move to the safest place within your shelter.
