A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Pike County, including Zebulon, effective immediately as of October 9 at 5:16 PM EDT, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Peachtree City GA. This warning is in effect until October 10 at 1:30 AM UTC.

Residents should complete preparations now. Hazardous winds of 10-20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph are expected, with potential for winds of 39-57 mph. This could lead to damage to porches, awnings, carports, and unanchored mobile homes, along with downed trees and power outages. Roads may become impassable due to debris.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 2-4 inches of rain expected, leading to potential moderate flooding. Evacuations and rescues are possible. Heed all flood watches and warnings. The NWS also indicates conditions are favorable for several tornadoes, with a few possibly intense. Residents in manufactured homes or on boats should prepare to relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly.
