A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Wilcox County, including Camden and Pine Hill, with dangerous winds up to 55 mph and major flooding expected from 3-6 inches of rain; complete preparations immediately and move to safe shelter.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Wilcox County, including Camden and Pine Hill, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL, effective immediately as of October 9 at 6:53 AM CDT. This warning indicates severe conditions with immediate urgency.
Residents should plan for dangerous wind conditions, with peak gusts potentially reaching 55 mph and a potential for sustained winds of 58 to 73 mph. Significant damage to property is possible, including roofing, siding, and mobile homes, and unsecured objects could become dangerous projectiles. Several large trees may snap or uproot, causing impassable roads. Scattered power and communications outages are also anticipated. All remaining efforts to protect life and property must be completed as soon as possible. Move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with 3-6 inches of rain expected and locally higher amounts possible, leading to a potential for major flooding. Emergency plans should include the possibility of evacuations and rescues. Rivers, tributaries, small streams, creeks, canals, and ditches may rapidly overflow. Floodwaters could enter structures, and many roads may become impassable or washed out. Strongly consider protective actions if you are in a flood-vulnerable area. Heed all flood watches and warnings.
The tornado threat is currently unfavorable. This warning is effective until October 9, 2026, at 3:00 PM UTC. For local information, contact Wilcox County EMA at 334-682-4911. For storm impacts, visit www.weather.gov/mob.
