Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Wilcox County: Prepare for Dangerous Winds
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Wilcox County, including Camden and Pine Hill, with dangerous winds up to 75 mph expected from this evening through Saturday morning, prompting significant damage and power outage concerns.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Wilcox County, effective immediately as of October 9 at 10:00 AM CDT, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL. Residents in Camden and Pine Hill should finalize preparations for dangerous winds reaching 40-50 mph with gusts up to 75 mph. These conditions are expected to begin early this evening and continue through Saturday morning.
Significant impacts are anticipated, including potential damage to roofing, siding, porches, and carports. Unanchored mobile homes may sustain damage, and unsecured objects could become dangerous projectiles. Several large trees may snap or uproot, leading to impassable roads due to debris. Scattered power and communications outages are also possible. All remaining efforts to protect life and property should be completed as soon as possible. Move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 3-6 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts possible. Moderate rainfall flooding may prompt evacuations and rescues. Rivers and streams could overflow their banks, leading to flooded structures and hazardous driving conditions. Heed all flood watches and warnings. The NWS Mobile AL does not expect tornadoes at this time. The warning is effective until October 9, 6:00 PM UTC.
