Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Inland Wakulla; Major Flooding Expected

WAKULLA COUNTY, FL – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tallahassee has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Inland Wakulla, including Crawfordville and Wakulla Springs, effective immediately. The warning was issued today, October 9, at 8:28 AM EDT and is set to expire at 4:30 PM UTC.
Residents are advised to prepare for major flooding from heavy rainfall, as an additional 4-8 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts, are expected. A Flood Watch is currently in effect. Evacuations and rescues are likely, and emergency plans should include the potential for extensive flooding impacts. Heed any flood watches and warnings; failure to take action could result in serious injury or loss of life.
While sustained winds are forecast to remain below tropical storm force (10-15 mph with gusts to 35 mph), there is potential for winds of 39 to 57 mph. Additionally, conditions are favorable for several tornadoes. If a tornado warning is issued, be ready to shelter quickly. No storm surge inundation is forecast.
