A Storm Surge Warning remains in effect for Coastal Wakulla, including Saint Marks and Panacea, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL today, October 9, at 8:28 AM EDT. Life-threatening storm surge of 4-6 feet above ground is possible through Saturday morning.

Residents in surge-prone areas are advised to remain sheltered in a safe location. Flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete, with evacuees well away from flood zones. Do not venture outside. Potential impacts from the main surge event are currently unfolding.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 4-8 inches of rain expected, leading to potential major flooding. Emergency plans should account for evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings.

The NWS indicates a favorable situation for several tornadoes. If a tornado warning is issued, be ready to shelter quickly. Wind speeds are forecast below tropical storm force, with gusts up to 40 mph.
