Beach Hazards & Coastal Flood Alert for Ventura County Beaches
A Beach Hazards Statement and Coastal Flood Advisory are in effect for Ventura County Beaches, warning of dangerous rip currents, elevated surf, and minor to moderate coastal flooding until Tuesday afternoon. Residents should avoid swimming and protect property in low-lying areas.
Ventura County residents and visitors are advised to take immediate precautions due to a Beach Hazards Statement and Coastal Flood Advisory issued by the National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA. These alerts are in effect through Tuesday afternoon, October 13th.
Dangerous rip currents and elevated surf are expected, posing an increased risk of ocean drowning. Swimmers and surfers are urged to remain out of the water or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties are particularly hazardous, and individuals should stay off them.
Minor to moderate coastal flooding is also anticipated near times of high tide, especially in low-lying beach and harbor areas. This is uncommon with normal tidal ranges. Enhanced beach erosion is possible. Property owners in flood-prone areas should take necessary actions to protect their property. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. High tides are expected to peak around 7.1 feet late Tuesday morning.
The Beach Hazards Statement is active from 8:19 PM PDT on October 12th through Tuesday afternoon, October 13th. The Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect until 2 PM PDT on Tuesday, October 13th.
