Beach Hazards & Coastal Flood Advisory for Ventura County
A Beach Hazards Statement and Coastal Flood Advisory are in effect for Ventura County Beaches, warning of dangerous rip currents, elevated surf, and minor to moderate coastal flooding until Tuesday afternoon. Take action to protect property and avoid the ocean.
Ventura County residents and beachgoers are advised to take immediate action to protect flood-prone property and avoid entering the ocean due to a Beach Hazards Statement and Coastal Flood Advisory issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Los Angeles/Oxnard CA. These advisories are in effect from October 12 at 9:33 AM PDT.
The Beach Hazards Statement, which will remain in effect through Tuesday afternoon, warns of dangerous rip currents and elevated surf. The Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect until 2 PM PDT on Tuesday, October 13, for Ventura County Beaches.
Minor to moderate coastal flooding is expected near times of high tide, particularly on Monday and Tuesday mornings when tides are anticipated to peak around 7.1 to 7.3 feet. This may lead to flooding in low-lying beach and harbor areas. Enhanced beach erosion is also possible. The NWS emphasizes that the risk for significant damage is very low.
For safety, remain out of the water due to hazardous swimming conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Avoid rock jetties, as they can be deadly under these conditions.
