Beach Hazards and Coastal Flood Advisory for Ventura County
Ventura County beaches are under a Beach Hazards Statement and Coastal Flood Advisory, warning of dangerous rip currents, elevated surf, and minor to moderate coastal flooding until Tuesday afternoon, October 13th; residents are advised to stay out of the water and protect flood-prone property.
Ventura County beaches are under a Beach Hazards Statement and Coastal Flood Advisory until Tuesday afternoon, October 13th. The National Weather Service (NWS) Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued these alerts, effective from Monday, October 12th at 8:40 PM PDT.
Residents and visitors in Ventura County are advised to remain out of the water due to dangerous rip currents and elevated surf. Stay near occupied lifeguard towers if you must be at the beach. Do not approach rock jetties, as they can be deadly in these conditions.
Minor to moderate coastal flooding is expected near times of high tide, particularly around 7.1 feet late Tuesday morning. This may affect low-lying beach and harbor areas. Property owners in flood-prone areas should take necessary protective actions. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Enhanced beach erosion is also possible.
These conditions increase the risk of ocean drowning, and waves can wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats nearshore. The NWS anticipates these conditions to persist through Tuesday afternoon.
