ST. JOHNS COUNTY, FL – The National Weather Service (NWS) Jacksonville has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for parts of St. Johns County, effective immediately until 6:00 PM EDT today, October 9, 2026.

Residents in affected areas should prepare for 60 mph wind gusts. This can cause damage to roofs, siding, and trees. A severe thunderstorm was located over Saint Augustine South, near Saint Augustine, moving north at 10 mph, as of 5:50 PM EDT.

Locations impacted include Saint Augustine Beach, Saint Augustine Shores, Butler Beach, Saint Augustine South, and Crescent Beach.

The NWS advises moving to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building for protection. Remain alert for possible tornadoes, which can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If a tornado is spotted, immediately go to a basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring, which may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
