Rip Current Warning for Coastal Areas Until Wednesday Morning

A Rip Current Statement is in effect for coastal Nassau, Flagler, St. Johns, Glynn, and Camden counties until Wednesday morning, October 11, at 6:00 AM EDT, with dangerous rip currents expected. Swim near a lifeguard and know how to react if caught in a current.

Residents and visitors to coastal Nassau, Flagler, St. Johns (Northeast and Southeast), Glynn, and Camden counties are advised of a Rip Current Statement issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Jacksonville, FL. Dangerous rip currents are expected through late tonight, October 11, until 6:00 AM EDT.

These rip currents pose a significant risk, capable of sweeping even strong swimmers away from shore into deeper waters. The NWS strongly advises caution for anyone entering the ocean.

If you plan to enter the water, swim near a lifeguard. Should you be caught in a rip current, relax and float. Do not attempt to swim against the current. If possible, swim parallel to the shoreline. If you are unable to escape, face the shore and signal for help by calling or waving.
