Residents near Bayard and Mandarin are advised to seek shelter indoors immediately due to a Special Weather Statement issued by NWS Jacksonville FL. A strong thunderstorm capable of producing a landspout and wind gusts up to 50 mph is moving north at 20 mph.

The National Weather Service detected this hazard via radar at 11:18 PM EDT, October 9, 2026. This alert is effective until 11:45 PM EDT. Locations impacted include Jacksonville, Orange Park, Mandarin, Fruit Cove, UNF, NAS Jax, Baymeadows, Bayard, Switzerland, and San Marco.

Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible, and gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Torrential rainfall is also occurring, which may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
