Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Everett Jones, 59, of Gibsonton, on Wednesday afternoon in connection with a bank robbery in Brandon. The robbery occurred at a Wells Fargo Bank located at 204 South Kings Avenue on September 30, 2026, around 12:03 p.m.

Deputies said a man entered the bank, passed a teller a note demanding money, and fled on foot. During an area search, detectives observed a man matching the suspect's description near Woodberry Road and Berry Lake Drive. Deputies identified the man as Jones.

Jones was taken into custody on an active felony warrant for Failure of a Career Offender to Register or Provide Information. During an interview, Jones admitted to the bank robbery. He now faces an additional charge of Robbery.

Sheriff Chad Chronister stated, "For four decades, this man has made a career out of robbery, and he's tried it again. Our detectives tracked him down, and this man's reign of robbery is now over."

Jones has prior robbery convictions in 1984, 2005, and 2015. The investigation remains ongoing.
