A 14-year-old student faces multiple charges after allegedly brandishing a knife during a fight and pursuing another student at Bloomingdale High School Monday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 7:57 a.m. on October 5, 2026, near the campus located off Valrico Road.
Edrik Allen, 14, was involved in a physical altercation with another student, striking them, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Allen then reportedly removed a knife from his pocket and pursued one of the students involved in the dispute.
A school resource deputy intervened, stopping Allen and confiscating the weapon. Allen was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault With a Deadly Weapon, Possession of a Weapon on School Property, and Battery.
Sheriff Chad Chronister emphasized school safety in a statement. "This could have ended in serious injury, or worse, if not for our school resource deputy's quick action," Sheriff Chronister said. "Weapons have no place on school campuses. Anyone who brings one onto a campus or threatens another student with one will be arrested."
The investigation remains ongoing.
