A Heat Advisory has been issued for portions of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties, effective immediately until 8:00 PM PDT on Thursday, October 8th. Temperatures are expected to reach up to 97 degrees Fahrenheit in affected areas.
The National Weather Service (NWS) Los Angeles/Oxnard CA issued the advisory for the San Luis Obispo County Inland Central Coast, San Luis Obispo County Interior Valleys, San Luis Obispo County Mountains, Santa Barbara County Inland Central Coast, Santa Lucia Mountains, Santa Ynez Valley, and Southern Salinas Valley.
The NWS advises residents to take precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and avoid direct sun exposure. Additionally, check on relatives and neighbors, especially those who may be more vulnerable to the heat.
This advisory is in effect until 8:00 PM PDT on Thursday, October 8th. Remain hydrated and aware of your surroundings during this period of elevated temperatures.
