Heat Advisory Issued: Dangerous Temperatures Expected Through Thursday
A Heat Advisory is in effect for San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties until Thursday at 8 PM PDT, with dangerously hot temperatures up to 103 degrees expected, prompting NWS advice to stay hydrated and in cool environments.
Residents across San Luis Obispo County and parts of Santa Barbara County are advised to take precautions as a Heat Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Los Angeles/Oxnard CA. The advisory is effective immediately, October 6, 2026, at 2:56 AM PDT, and will remain in effect until Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 8:00 PM PDT.
Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with temperatures reaching around 90 degrees Fahrenheit near the coast and up to 103 degrees Fahrenheit inland. Areas affected include the San Luis Obispo County Inland Central Coast, San Luis Obispo County Interior Valleys, San Luis Obispo County Mountains, Santa Barbara County Inland Central Coast, Santa Lucia Mountains, Santa Ynez Valley, and Southern Salinas Valley.
The NWS warns that these hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses. To stay safe, residents are instructed to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
