Residents and visitors along San Luis Obispo County Beaches and Santa Barbara County Central Coast Beaches are advised to take immediate action to protect flood-prone property. A Beach Hazards Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA, effective now until 6:00 AM PDT on October 11.

Minor tidal overflow flooding and strong rip currents are expected. A Coastal Flood Advisory and High Surf Advisory will also be in effect from 6:00 AM PDT Sunday, October 11, to 10:00 PM PDT Monday, October 12. Minor to moderate coastal flooding is anticipated near high tide, particularly with Sunday morning's high tide. Large breaking waves of 8 to 12 feet are expected, creating dangerous rip currents.

Low-lying areas, including Oceano, are most susceptible to flooding. Enhanced beach erosion is likely. The National Weather Service warns against driving around barricades or through water of unknown depth. All individuals should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties are particularly hazardous; stay off the rocks.
