Extreme Heat Warning Issued for Santa Barbara County
An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued for Santa Barbara County, including Cuyama Valley and coastal areas, effective until Thursday, October 8, at 8:00 PM PDT, with temperatures up to 100 degrees expected.
Residents in Cuyama Valley, Santa Barbara County's coastal areas, Santa Ynez Mountains, interior mountains, and Santa Cruz and Anacapa Islands are advised to take immediate precautions due to an Extreme Heat Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Los Angeles/Oxnard CA.
The warning is in effect from Wednesday, October 7, at 8:31 PM PDT until Thursday, October 8, at 8:00 PM PDT. Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with temperatures reaching up to 85 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast and up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the mountains and Cuyama Valley.
The NWS warns that heat-related illnesses will significantly increase during this period. To stay safe, residents should drink plenty of fluids, remain in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors.
