A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for San Diego County Inland Valleys, urging residents in Escondido, El Cajon, Lakeside, and Poway to prepare immediately for potential hazardous winds and major flooding.
A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for the San Diego County Inland Valleys, including Escondido, El Cajon, Lakeside, and Poway, effective October 9 at 8:23 PM PDT by the National Weather Service San Diego CA. This watch is set to expire on October 10 at 4:30 AM UTC.
Residents should immediately begin preparations for hazardous winds and major flooding. Winds are forecast to reach 20-30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, with potential for gusts between 39 to 57 mph. Damage to awnings, carports, and sheds is possible, along with downed tree limbs and scattered power outages. Secure all lightweight objects now.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with around 1 inch of rain expected. This could lead to extensive major rainfall flooding, prompting evacuations and rescues. Rivers and small streams may overflow, and floodwaters could enter structures. Avoid unnecessary travel once heavy rain begins. Heed all flood watches and warnings, as failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life.
