Extreme Heat Warning for Inland Empire: Stay Hydrated, Seek Cool Spaces
An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued for the San Bernardino and Riverside County Valleys until Thursday, October 8, with temperatures up to 105 degrees; residents should stay hydrated, seek cool spaces, and never leave children or pets in cars.
Residents in the San Bernardino and Riverside County Valleys, also known as the Inland Empire, are advised to take immediate precautions as an Extreme Heat Warning is now in effect. The National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego has issued this warning due to dangerously hot conditions expected to last until Thursday, October 8, at 8:00 PM PDT.
High temperatures are forecasted to reach between the upper 90s and 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Nights will offer little relief, with low temperatures remaining very warm, ranging from the upper 60s to mid-70s. These conditions significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses.
The NWS urges everyone to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. Community members are also encouraged to check on relatives and neighbors, especially those who may be more vulnerable to the heat. It is critical to remember: never leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles, as car interiors can reach lethal temperatures rapidly.
