Residents in the San Bernardino and Riverside County Valleys, including the Inland Empire, are advised to take immediate precautions due to an Extreme Heat Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego CA.
This warning is effective now, October 4, at 9:10 PM PDT, and will remain in effect until 8:00 PM PDT on Thursday, October 8. Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with high temperatures ranging from the upper 90s to 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Nights will also be warm, with low temperatures between the upper 60s and mid 70s.
The NWS emphasizes that heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. To mitigate risks, residents are instructed to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and stay out of the sun. It is also crucial to check on relatives and neighbors during this period.
Additionally, do not leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in minutes. This is a severe alert, and adherence to these instructions is critical for safety.
