Residents in the Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills are advised to take immediate precautions as an Extreme Heat Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego CA.

The warning is effective immediately, October 4, 2026, at 11:32 AM PDT, and will remain in effect until Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 8:00 PM PDT. Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with temperatures reaching up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the day. Nights will offer little relief, with lows remaining in the low to mid-70s.

The NWS warns that heat-related illnesses will significantly increase during this period. To mitigate risks, individuals should drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and avoid direct sun exposure. Checking on relatives and neighbors is also encouraged. Crucially, never leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles, as interior temperatures can become lethal within minutes.
