Residents in the Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills are advised to take immediate precautions as an Extreme Heat Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego CA. The warning is effective from today, October 5, at 3:19 AM PDT until 8:00 PM PDT on Thursday, October 8.

Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with high temperatures in the 90s. Overnight lows will remain very warm, ranging from the upper 60s to mid 70s. The NWS emphasizes that heat-related illnesses increase significantly during such extreme heat events.

To protect against the heat, residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and remain out of the sun. It is also crucial to check on relatives and neighbors during this period. Never leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles, as car interiors can reach lethal temperatures rapidly.
