Monroe County Sheriff's Office

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office recently announced the acquisition of three new patrol vehicles, enhancing the department's operational capabilities across the county. The vehicles, two Ford Explorers and one Chevrolet Tahoe, were purchased through the county's approved budget for public safety equipment.

Sheriff Thompson stated that these additions are crucial for maintaining response times and ensuring deputies have reliable transportation for their duties, especially in the more rural areas of Monroe County. The new vehicles are already in service, having been outfitted with the necessary law enforcement equipment at the department's garage on historic Main Street in Monroeville.

Funding for the new patrol units, totaling approximately $150,000, was allocated during the last fiscal year's budget approval process by the Monroe County Board of Commissioners. This investment aims to replace aging vehicles in the fleet and support the ongoing efforts of the Sheriff's Office to serve and protect the community.
