CONNECTIONS STRIKE AGAIN WITH THE PUMA
Clearwater, FL – The City of Clearwater is set to amend its Future Land Use Map and Zoning Atlas for a property located at 1399 Pineapple Lane, transitioning it from residential to recreation/open space. This move, identified as LUP2026-02001 and REZ2026-02001, will see the property, currently designated Residential Low (RL) by Pinellas County and Residential Agriculture (R-A) district, reclassified to Recreation/Open Space (City of Clearwater) and Open Space/Recreation (OS/R) district respectively. Both are Level Three Applications and are currently listed with an "Agenda Ready" status.
This change is a significant step for the community, potentially expanding public access to green spaces and recreational opportunities. While specific plans for the 1399 Pineapple Lane property have not yet been detailed, the reclassification opens the door for future park development, conservation efforts, or other public recreational uses that align with the city's commitment to enhancing residents' quality of life along its scenic Gulf Coast shores.
The City Council, including Councilmember David Allbritton, Councilmember Michael Mannino, and Councilmember Ryan Cotton, along with Mayor Bruce Rector and Vice Mayor Lina Teixeira, will be reviewing these amendments. Residents interested in learning more about these changes and their potential impact on the community are encouraged to attend upcoming City Council meetings. The City Council typically meets approximately every 18 days at 6:00 PM in downtown Clearwater. Details regarding specific meeting dates and agendas are available on the city's official website.
