Clearwater City Council to Consider Key Development and Proclamations
Clearwater City Council is set to address a range of local issues at its upcoming meeting, including significant development proposals, a proclamation for National Safe Boating Week, and recognition for a local firefighter. Residents can anticipate decisions impacting local infrastructure, land use, and community safety.
Among the key items on the agenda is a flexible development approval for a medical clinic at 375 Turner Street in downtown Clearwater. The proposal, identified as FLD2025-10026, seeks flexibility for reduced off-street parking and modified landscaping for the conversion of an existing building into a medical facility. Additionally, another flexible development request (FLD2026-01002) concerns an existing 1,838 square foot commercial dock at 125 Island Way, accessory to 27-unit attached dwellings within the High Density Residential Island Estates Neighborhood Conservation Overlay and Preservation Districts.
Land use changes are also on the docket, with two related items (LUP2026-02001 and REZ2026-02001) proposing an amendment to the city’s Future Land Use Map and Zoning Atlas for the property located at 1399 Pineapple Lane. These changes would convert the land from Residential Low (Pinellas County) and Residential Agriculture (Pinellas County) to the Recreation/Open Space category (City of Clearwater).
In a move to promote safety on Clearwater's waterways, the Council will consider a proclamation for National Safe Boating Week (ID#26-0407). Furthermore, Fire Fighter Charles Stokes is slated to receive a Medal of Courage Award, with an additional award presented to the Pinellas County Deputy who assisted in the incident. These presentations (ID#26-0395) highlight the dedication of local first responders.
Other agenda items include the approval of minutes from the March 17, 2026 Community Development Board meeting (ID#26-0399), as well as several pension-related actions, including the approval of new hires as plan members (ID#26-0396) and review and action on employees' requests for vested (ID#26-0397) and regular pensions (ID#26-0398).
