Clearwater City Council to Consider Key Land Use Changes and Recognitions

Clearwater City Council is set to address several significant land use amendments and recognize local heroes at its upcoming meeting. Residents can expect discussions on flexible development approvals, rezonings, and a special commendation for a firefighter and a Pinellas County Deputy.

Among the items on the agenda is a flexible development approval request, ID#26-0400, for the conversion of a property at 375 Turner Street in downtown Clearwater into a medical clinic. This proposal seeks flexibility for reduced off-street parking and modified landscaping, as outlined in the Community Development Code. Another flexible development request, ID#26-0401, concerns an existing commercial dock at 125 Island Way, accessory to 27-unit attached dwellings within the High Density Residential Island Estates Neighborhood Conservation Overlay and Preservation Districts.

Further land use changes include two Level Three Applications: ID#26-0402 and ID#26-0403. These propose an amendment to the city’s Future Land Use Map and Zoning Atlas, respectively, for the property located at 1399 Pineapple Lane. The change would reclassify the land from Residential Low (RL) and Residential Agriculture (R-A) to the Recreation/Open Space category and district.

In a moment of community recognition, the City Council will present a Medal of Courage Award to Fire Fighter Charles Stokes and an award to the Pinellas County Deputy who assisted in an unstated incident (ID#26-0395). This recognition highlights the bravery and dedication of local public safety personnel.

Additionally, the Council will consider the National Safe Boating Week Proclamation (ID#26-0407), emphasizing water safety in our coastal community along the Gulf of Mexico. Other administrative items include the approval of new hires as plan members (ID#26-0396) and reviews of employee requests for vested (ID#26-0397) and regular pensions (ID#26-0398).

The Neighborhood and Affordable Housing Advisory Board is also scheduled to meet tomorrow, April 14, 2026, at 9:00 AM in the Main Library - Council Chambers.
