Clearwater City Council to Consider Key Development and Pension Actions
Clearwater residents can look forward to a busy City Council meeting as several significant items are slated for review and action. Among the agenda items are crucial development approvals, pension-related decisions, and a special recognition for local heroes.
One notable item, ID#26-0400, involves a Flexible Development approval for the conversion of a property at 375 Turner Street in downtown Clearwater into a medical clinic. This project, located in the Institutional (I) District, seeks flexibility for reduced off-street parking and landscape buffers. Additionally, ID#26-0401 requests Flexible Development approval for an existing 1,838 square foot commercial dock at 125 Island Way in the coastal Island Estates neighborhood, accessory to 27-unit attached dwellings within the High Density Residential Island Estates Neighborhood Conservation Overlay (HDR/IENCOD) and Preservation (P) Districts.
Further land use changes are on the docket with ID#26-0402 and ID#26-0403. These items propose amendments to the city’s Future Land Use Map and Zoning Atlas, respectively, for the property located at 1399 Pineapple Lane. The proposed change is from Residential Low (RL) and Residential Agriculture (R-A) to Recreation/Open Space (OS/R).
The Council will also address several pension-related matters, including the approval of new hires as plan members (ID#26-0396) and reviewing requests for vested and regular pensions (ID#26-0397 and ID#26-0398). These actions are routine but vital for the city's employee benefits.
In a moment of community recognition, the City Council is scheduled to present a Medal of Courage Award to Fire Fighter Charles Stokes, along with an award to the Pinellas County Deputy who assisted in a recent incident (ID#26-0395). This presentation highlights the bravery and dedication of local public safety personnel serving Clearwater's vibrant neighborhoods.
The City Council typically meets approximately every 18 days at 6:00 PM. Residents interested in these or other agenda items are encouraged to attend or review the meeting details.
