Clearwater City Council to Review Medical Clinic and Dock Flexibilities

Clearwater residents should note that the City Council is set to review several significant development proposals, including a new medical clinic on downtown Turner Street and a commercial dock on Island Way. These items are marked as "Agenda Ready" for an upcoming Council meeting.

One key item, identified as ID#26-0400, involves a Flexible Development approval for the conversion of an existing building at 375 Turner Street into a medical clinic. This project, located in the Institutional (I) District, is seeking flexibility for reduced off-street parking based on a parking demand study, and reduced interior landscaping and landscape buffers. The existing building does not exceed 35 feet in height and the modified parking lot includes 57 off-street parking spaces.

Another notable proposal, ID#26-0401, seeks Flexible Development approval for an existing 1,838 square foot commercial dock with a new boat lift. This dock is accessory to 27-unit attached dwellings within the High Density Residential Island Estates Neighborhood Conservation Overlay (HDR/IENCOD) and Preservation (P) Districts at 125 Island Way. The request specifically asks for flexibility regarding the commercial dock.

Additionally, the Council will consider amendments to the city's Future Land Use Map and Zoning Atlas for the property located at 1399 Pineapple Lane. These amendments (ID#26-0402 and ID#26-0403) propose changing the land use from Residential Low (RL) to Recreation/Open Space and the zoning from Residential Agriculture (R-A) to Open Space/Recreation (OS/R).

Other items on the agenda include a National Safe Boating Week Proclamation (ID#26-0407), the approval of minutes from the March 17, 2026 Community Development Board meeting (ID#26-0399), and a Medal of Courage Award Presentation to Fire Fighter Charles Stokes and an assisting Pinellas County Deputy (ID#26-0395). The Council will also address new hires as plan members (ID#26-0396) and review employee requests for vested and regular pensions (ID#26-0397, ID#26-0398).

Residents interested in these developments are encouraged to review the full agenda when it becomes publicly available. City Council meetings typically occur approximately every 18 days at 6:00 PM.
