An Extreme Storm Surge Warning is in effect for Port Saint Joe and Cape San Blas, with life-threatening flooding, tropical storm force winds, major rainfall, and numerous tornadoes possible; residents must shelter immediately.

A Storm Surge Warning of Extreme severity has been issued by NWS Tallahassee FL for Coastal Gulf, specifically impacting Port Saint Joe and Cape San Blas. The warning is effective immediately, as of October 9 at 11:05 AM EDT, and expires at 7:15 PM UTC on October 9, 2026. Residents are urged to take immediate action.

Life-threatening storm surge flooding of greater than 6 feet above ground is possible through Saturday morning. All ordered evacuations should be complete, and evacuees should be in shelters well away from storm surge flooding. Remain sheltered in a safe location and do not venture outside. If necessary, move to upper floors to escape rising water.

Tropical Storm force winds (35-45 mph with gusts to 65 mph, potentially reaching 58-73 mph) are expected until early Saturday morning. Last-minute efforts to protect life and property should be complete. The area remains subject to significant wind damage; shelter from dangerous wind now. A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 3-6 inches of rain expected, leading to potential major flooding. Heed any flood watches and warnings. The situation is very favorable for many tornadoes. Stay informed and move quickly to the safest place within your shelter if a tornado warning is issued.
